Maxi Dresses – What’s your Favourite?

Your summer staple is the ‘Maxi Dress’.
Why do we love it so much?
It covers a multitude of sins, legs don’t have to be ultra tip-top. Celebrities are wearing the ‘maxi’ and we want to be part of it too.

However, the ‘Maxi’ is not the easiest to wear, it is one definite item that can look amazing on someone else but you put it on and it could look hideous! The waist never seems to be in the right place and there’s an overlap of fabric that makes you look bulky (tent like) rather than slimline and oh yes the length for many is also an issue.

For a more defined silhouette, use a belt to cinch the waist in as well as the addition of a jacket.

Be striking this summertime and look at the ‘Maxi’ that has:

stretch jersey material
halter-style neck
bandeau chest
flattering empire style
length suits your footwear
Figure flattering under bust panel
Linings for luxurious draping

Flats for daytime and transfer to wedges for a casual chic look.

I hope the colourful selection I have chosen today help you choose and inspire saving you time whilst your shopping in your boutique, high street or online.

Look stunning and feel romantic.

Polka Dot Style Crazy

It all started with the ‘Itsy Bitsy Teeny Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini and now we’re all a bit dotty!

Nothing small this year, the rule is the bigger the dot the younger the look.

I have chosen today a chic rain mac and definitely worth every penny with our drizzly weather here in UK. Wear with ‘red’ to complete your ‘royal’ look this summer.

Perfect prom party dress team with co-ordinated heels like the peep-toes I’ve selected.

Polka Dot Peplum style is an elegant classic that works

Brighten up any ensemble with a blouse like the one here. The patriotic polka dots will look fitting under a blue blazer and skinny jeans or equally stunning under your work suit and a pair of red heels.

Arrive in style with a dress that would be perfect for a special event and a day at the office through to an evening of summer chic style.

It’s not all navy and white polka dot dresses, I love the mint polka dot dress worn with a pair of glistening flats or patent block heels.

Had to include a pair of polka dot sandals, equally as elegant with a plain dress or striped T-shirt, trousers and blazer for ultra quirky flair.

The female body is a beauty – make the most of it.

Diamond Jubilee Fashion 2012

Generally we wouldn’t be entertaining the ‘Jubilee’ theme but being British this is the year to embellish it for our dear Queen whilst for the moment the Duchess of Cambridge is nudged out of the spotlight and rightly so.

What is your wardrobe piece? A tiara, a diamond, a Union Jack or even a corgi dog.

Here’s some ideas you too can introduce to your wardrobe for this iconic year, hope you like.

Dame Vivienne Westwood: Her collection is all about gold, silver and bronze instead of being traditional. The collection features corseted gowns created with silk satins, organza crepe and taffeta as well as draped cocktail dresses and jewelled ear-rings all available end May 2012.

I love the little handkerchief adding a little touch to your celebrations.
I love a little sparkle on the day, it may just be in the fizz!
Embellishments can take place of a diamond!
A Union Jack can be a bit of fun somewhere.
A tee-shirt with a corgi is something different.
Make your outfit a stylish piece that’s suitable to you and certainly NO TACK PLEASE,
after all WE ARE BRITISH!
Day time celebrations will be ‘red white and blue’, for
Evening celebrations a touch of glamour regal statement in tiaras dresses shoes and accessories,
Make an excuse and GO TO TOWN.

Skin – your first layer

We all like to feel great in our own skin, so its worth looking after.

Over the years I have put so many products on my skin that include so many chemicals so I was pleased to be introduced to Body Kind Holistic Salon a few years ago, different to any beauty salon I had been in before. Shall I say not your average ‘Essex Beauty Salon’ and you would agree as soon as you enter – there’s no fake tan booths, no false nails, no gossip gossip chat either. OK, it doesn’t suit everyone but it does I feel for the 30+ ladies and gents.

Why do I like it? It’s private and you’re made to feel so welcome, it doesn’t matter who you are, everyone is made to feel extra-special by Jill and her staff and it’s never too over-powering but calming and sincere.

When I first visited Jill Ingham at Body Kind, she started her thriving business well over a decade ago and this year her organic product range was launched, a relief to me products that I could trust.

No more need for Clarins, Dermalogica, Guinot plus so many others I’ve used over the years.

At home I enjoy using BEAUTY KIND ‘Rejuvenating Facial Radiance, Intensive Eye Serum, Rose Secrets and Coconut Oil Hand Creams, Nail Conditioning Oil, Immune Booster as well as Lavender Dream and Citrus Spa Foot Creams, not forgetting Facial Polisher.

Whilst visiting BODY KIND I enjoy the scented luxury skincare products. These are created by hand-blending aromatic plant ingredients and vitamin enriched oils, they indeed contain everything you need for healthy, radiant and beautiful skin.

Treatments I like to treat myself to are and I would definitely like to recommend:

Holistic Body Massage – A body massage can help to reduce mental and physical tension. Your treatment will be personally tailored to target areas of tension, fatigue and stiffness.

Hot Stone Massage – A stimulating and detoxifying treatment. Warm aromatic oils are gently drizzled over the body and massaged into the body using smooth, warm volcanic stones.

Reflexology - To promote good health and vitality. Specialised massage techniques are applied on the feet to stimulate and encourage self-healing, balance and relaxation within the body.

Hopi Ear Candling (this is with face and scalp massage too)
A native American tradition. A hollow candle crates a chimney effect drawing out impurities and can help to ease sinus congestion, catarrh and that blocked feeling. Great before a flight.

Sheer Indulgence – Experience an aromatherapy facial, scalp and back massage using pure essential oils, flower essences and acupressure techniques for sheer relaxation and well-being.

Pure Bliss – Begin with a relaxing back, neck and shoulder massage to ease excess tensions in the body. When you are feeling totally relaxed your Therapist will perform an aromatherapy facial, which includes a cleanse, massage and masque. As the masque replenishes your skin with nourishing aromatic oils, you will receive a warm oil hand and nail treatment.

Body Kind Well-Being – A top to toe full body aromatherapy massage using Body Kind’s own blend of rose oils – BEAUTY KIND GENTLE SKINCARE RANGE. This treatment is the perfect choice when you and your body just want to feel totally relaxed and chilled.

I have also combined a treatment to suit what my body needs at the time.

Body Kind Facial – A pampering aromatic facial using rich moisturising and nourishing plant oils, selected for their ‘natural lifting’ properties. This facial concentrates on facial massage to stimulate and encourage radiant looking skin.

Body Kind Mini-Facial – This mini facial includes a deep cleanse aromatic facial massage and moisturising treatment to help smooth fine lines.

As well as enjoying many facial courses:

Micro-Current: To smooth fine lines and improve the texture and condition of your skin.
Non-Surgical Face Lift: An intensive work-out for the face. Superb ‘lifting’ for a smooth and more toned appearance.
Microdermabrasion Diamond Peel: A very comfortable and gentle peel using diamond rods, to remove dead cells and to promote cellular rejuvenation for a brighter complexion.

The above can be combined too when you have a course of five treatments to tailor to your skin concerns.

I mustn’t forget:

Spa Manicure – Includes nail shape, cuticle work, hand and lower arm massage, replenishing nail oil and finished with professional polish.

Spa Pedicure – Nail shape, hard skin removal, cuticle work, lower leg and foot massage, replenishing nail oil and finished with professional polish.

The above I have enjoyed this week and I am wearing ‘Seduce Me’!

Now due for Eyebrow Wax today.

There’s so many waxing treatments, eye treatments too which I haven’t personally had.

Cosmetic Blemish Removal – Removal of skin tags, facial thread veins, milia, blood spots and more.

I had a mole removed and I was so impressed and pain-free.

And there are SHELLAC manicure and pedicures as well as Fake Bake Body Bronzing for those that choose.

NOW, you’re ready to start layering clothes on to your skin and have you perfect in every way….it’s where it starts.

Swimsuit Bikini Wear

MISSONI £410

MISSONI £410

Inspired by a family that went to Sardinia (one of my favourite holiday destinations)
this ‘Missoni’ crochet knit swimsuit

I personally wouldn’t call it a swimsuit for obvious reasons.

Wear with a little skirt and a pair of flats teamed with sumptuous jewellery – It’s perfect for print clashing.

Look out for more vibrant, dance-floor ready numbers in the Italian label’s SS12 collection.

This item is available to buy at Boutique Missoni at Sloane Street or New Bond Street, London.

So whilst you’re in London visiting why not treat yourself to a luxury shopping experience….regardless of the label, you have to look and feel fantastic – complete.

SENSE OF STYLE

As I was reading the Daily Mail this morning, a study organised by premium brand CC has found it takes years of experimenting before women find a look they’re happy and confident with and most feel they’re in their prime at 35, but some, I was shocked they didn’t feel they were in their prime until the age of 56!!

I get invited into people’s homes before ladies reach the age of 35 thereafter they enjoy buying and wearing clothes exactly to suit their personality and lifestyle with no need to follow the crowd on the high street. My ladies after spending time with me feel comfortable with their appearance as they age, therefore no problem with wearing fashion trends in their future years – a great well-being investment.

Ladies, there’s no need to feel guilty of dressing too young for your age, I understand people are limited to really what they find locally in their shopping malls and high streets rather than putting their own outfits together and that’s of course where I come in to play.

I disagree to what CC say. They say “There is an assumption that your looks and sense of style are at their peak in your late teens and early twenties” – it’s natural for people to follow the crowd in general, latest trends on the mannequin for example in their early years before their lifestyle circumstances change.

I offer you knowledge and confidence to carry any look off to suit your personality, accentuating what matters too for your shape and size. You’ll be looking and feeling tip-top whatever the occasion, even if its just popping to the supermarket.

Although I am based in Essex I am happy to travel to you:
